In Short

Radiesse is an injectable made from calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. It provides immediate volume and simultaneously stimulates collagen production, so the result continues developing as the gel absorbs. At Elora Polyclinic in Dubai it is used on the face for jawline, cheek and chin definition, on the hands, and in hyperdilute form for skin tightening on the neck, arms, abdomen and thighs. Results last 12 to 18 months.

Where It Is Used

Treatment Areas

FaceNeckDécolletageHandsBodyScalp

Radiesse works across the face and body. Standard concentration is used for jawline, cheek and chin definition and for hand rejuvenation. Hyperdilute Radiesse — diluted for spread rather than volume — is used for skin tightening on the neck, décolletage, arms, abdomen and thighs. It is not used in the lips or under the eyes.

Options

Your Radiesse Options

01

Facial Definition

Standard concentration is used along the jawline, in the cheeks and at the chin, where it provides immediate structure with the firmness this area needs. Its lifting capacity is among the highest of any injectable.

02

Hyperdilute Radiesse — Skin Tightening

Diluted so it spreads rather than adds volume, then used across the neck, décolletage, upper arms, abdomen, knees and thighs. It stimulates collagen broadly to tighten crepey, lax skin.

03

Hand Rejuvenation

One of its strongest indications. Restores volume to the back of the hands where ageing makes tendons and veins prominent, while improving skin quality at the same time.

Candidacy

Is Radiesse Right for You?

Good candidate if

  • Wanting jawline, cheek or chin definition with immediate effect
  • Volume loss and prominent tendons on the back of the hands
  • Crepey, lax skin on the neck, arms, abdomen or thighs
  • Wanting both immediate result and longer-term collagen benefit
  • Comfortable with a product that cannot be dissolved

May not be right if

  • Lips and under-eyes — Radiesse is not used in either
  • Wanting a fully reversible treatment, where hyaluronic acid is more appropriate
  • History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
  • Active skin infection or inflammatory skin disease
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

How Radiesse Is Performed, Step by Step

1

01

Assessment and Dilution Decision

Whether standard concentration for volume or hyperdilute for tightening is the key decision, and it determines the entire treatment plan.

2

02

Preparation

The product is prepared to the chosen dilution and mixed with lidocaine for comfort where appropriate.

3

03

Anaesthetic

Topical for facial treatment; local anaesthetic for hands and larger body areas.

4

04

Injection

Cannula is preferred for hands, jawline and large body areas to reduce bruising. Product is layered evenly rather than deposited in single boluses.

5

05

Moulding

The area is moulded to ensure smooth distribution, which is particularly important on the hands where irregularity is easily visible.

6

06

Review at Six Weeks

The collagen effect is assessed and a second session planned if additional correction is wanted.

Benefits

Why Patients Choose This Treatment

Benefits

  • Immediate result plus progressive collagen improvement from one treatment
  • Among the highest lifting capacity of any injectable
  • Hyperdilute form tightens crepey skin across large body areas
  • One of the best available options for ageing hands
  • Often needs fewer sessions than pure collagen stimulators
  • Works across face, neck, décolletage, hands and body

What to consider

Radiesse cannot be dissolved or reversed, unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, so treatment is conservative and staged. It is not used in the lips or under the eyes. Swelling and bruising for one to three days are common, particularly on the hands. Small nodules can form if the product is not distributed evenly, and it is avoided in patients with a keloid scarring history. Your practitioner will discuss all of this and confirm whether standard or hyperdilute treatment suits your goal.

Recovery

Your Treatment Timeline

  1. Days 1–3

Immediate volume visible, with swelling and possible bruising. Hands and body bruise more than the face.

  2. Days 4–7

Swelling settles and the true immediate result becomes clear.

  3. Weeks 2–6

The gel carrier absorbs. A slight softening is normal before the collagen effect takes over.

  4. Weeks 6–12

Collagen production builds. Skin quality and firmness improve alongside the volume.

  5. Months 3–6

Peak combined result — volume and tissue quality together.

  6. Months 12–18

Gradual decline. Top-up treatment maintains the result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Radiesse a filler or a collagen stimulator?

Both, which is what makes it distinctive. The gel carrier gives immediate volume like a filler, and the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres stimulate collagen as the gel absorbs. One treatment, two mechanisms working on different timescales.

What is hyperdilute Radiesse?

Radiesse diluted well beyond its standard concentration so that it spreads through the tissue rather than adding volume. Used for skin tightening across the neck, décolletage, upper arms, abdomen, knees and thighs — areas where crepey skin is the concern rather than volume loss.

Can Radiesse be dissolved?

No. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers there is no enzyme that reverses it, so it is placed conservatively and built up across sessions if needed. If reversibility matters to you, a hyaluronic acid filler is the more appropriate choice.

Can it be used on the hands?

Yes, and it is one of its strongest indications. It restores volume over prominent tendons and veins while improving skin quality — a combination few products achieve in an area that ages very visibly.

Why is it not used in the lips?

Its firmness and stimulatory action make it unsuitable for the lips, where nodule formation is more likely and the result would feel wrong. Hyaluronic acid is the correct product for lips.

How long does it last?

Twelve to eighteen months. Because part of the result is collagen your own body produced, some benefit persists beyond the point at which the product itself has fully absorbed.
