In Short
Exosomes are nanoscale vesicles that carry signalling molecules — proteins, peptides and genetic messengers — used by cells to communicate. In aesthetics they are applied to the skin or scalp after microneedling or laser to accelerate repair and improve tissue quality. At Elora Polyclinic in Dubai we use ASCE+ and Biosome by AnteAGE, for facial skin quality, hair thinning and post-procedure recovery. Typically three to four sessions.
Exosome therapy is the newest treatment in this category and the evidence base, while promising, is still developing. It is not approved as a standalone medical treatment for hair loss or skin disease, and any clinic presenting it as a cure should be treated with caution. At Elora it is offered as an adjunct — supporting recovery after microneedling or laser, improving skin quality, and supporting hair programmes alongside PRP — rather than as a replacement for established treatments.
Where It Is Used
Exosome therapy is used on the face, the neck and the scalp. It is most commonly delivered immediately after microneedling or a laser treatment, when the skin barrier is temporarily open and absorption is at its highest.
Options
01
Applied after microneedling to improve texture, tone, redness and overall skin quality. Frequently chosen for skin that is inflamed, sensitised or recovering from acne.
02
Applied to the scalp to support the environment around weakening follicles, usually alongside PRP rather than instead of it. Supportive, not a hair loss cure.
03
Applied immediately after laser or microneedling to shorten redness and downtime and improve the quality of the healing response. This is the application with the clearest practical benefit.
Unretouched before and after photographs published with patient consent. Individual results vary according to skin condition, product and treatment plan.

Candidacy
01
Your practitioner explains what exosome therapy can reasonably achieve and what it cannot, and whether an established treatment would serve you better.
02
Skin is cleansed and topical anaesthetic applied where microneedling is part of the session.
03
Microneedling or laser creates controlled micro-channels, temporarily opening the barrier so the preparation can be absorbed.
04
The preparation is applied to the treated surface and massaged in while the channels remain open — timing here matters.
05
Redness settles within hours to a day. Avoid active skincare, makeup and sun exposure for twenty-four to forty-eight hours.
06
Spaced two to four weeks apart, with maintenance based on documented response rather than a fixed schedule.

Benefits
Exosome therapy is an emerging treatment and its evidence base, while promising, is still developing. It is not approved as a standalone treatment for hair loss or skin disease, and Elora offers it as an adjunct rather than a replacement for established treatments. Results vary between individuals, a course of three to four sessions is needed, and the effect lasts three to six months. It does not add volume or change contour. Your practitioner will tell you honestly whether an established treatment would serve you better.
Recovery
Day 0
Redness similar to mild sunburn where microneedling was performed. No makeup for the rest of the day.
Days 1–2
Redness settles. Skin may feel tight or slightly dry — barrier repair is underway.
Days 3–7
Improved glow and smoother texture become noticeable. Post-procedure recovery is visibly quicker.
Weeks 2–4
Second session. Improvement is cumulative across the course.
Months 1–2
Clearest visible result for skin quality. Hair response is assessed at three months.
Months 3–6
Effect diminishes gradually. Maintenance considered based on documented response.

No, and this distinction matters. Exosomes are vesicles that cells release to communicate with each other — they contain signalling molecules but no cells at all. Marketing frequently blurs this, and any clinic describing exosome therapy as a stem cell treatment is being imprecise.
They appear to support the tissue environment around weakening follicles and are used within hair programmes, usually alongside PRP. They will not regrow hair where the follicle is gone, and they are not an approved standalone treatment for hair loss. We describe them as supportive because that is what the evidence currently supports.
Topically, immediately after microneedling or laser, while the skin barrier is temporarily open and absorption is highest. No injection or blood draw is required, which is part of the appeal.
PRP uses your own tissue, has the stronger evidence base and can be used across more areas. Exosomes need no blood draw, have essentially no downtime and are particularly good for post-procedure recovery. Many patients use both, and your practitioner will advise based on your goal.
Typically three to four, spaced two to four weeks apart, with maintenance based on your documented response rather than a fixed schedule.
